March for Life 2010 Coordinating Instructions

Dates: January 20-23, 2010. 

Departure: Donahue Academy early afternoon of January 20.

Return: Donahue Academy at approximately 8:30pm on the 23rd.

Students will be attending school January 20 in DRESS uniform and will attend normal morning classes. Students will bring their luggage to school and will be eating their regular lunch as scheduled. Clothing for travel needs to be in a separate bag in order to change before departure. Books and uniforms will be left behind in their lockers as we depart. There will be a “sending off” and a rosary prayed prior to departure.parade-2

(We will need volunteer transportation for departure and arrival to/from        Ft. Lauderdale)

Packing:

All attending will be limited to ONE Carry-on suitcase and ONE other small bag, plus your heavy coat. No exceptions. There will be NO checked baggage. Recommend that the students be supervised to ensure that they are packed correctly.

     ITEMS TO BRING:

  • Heavy Coat – preferably waterproof or water repellent
  • Gloves
  • Rosary
  • Cap (provided by Youth Group)
  • Comfortable pants/shirts for three days
  • Comfortable shoes/sneakers
  • Extra warm socks
  • Appropriate Sleepwear
  • Toiletries* See the 3-1-1 Rule below. If you do not follow this rule you will loose all of your liquids
  • Prescription Medicine (must be in the name of the student) and pack enough for three days
  • Proper ID (provided by school)

     OPTIONAL:

  • Camera/video recorders
  • Long johns
  • Ipod/Iphones
  • Cell phone & charger
  • Scarf/earmuffs

  Please ensure that the carry on backs meet the following size criteria:

  The maximum combined linear measurement (L + W + H) of the carry-on bag is 45 inches (115 cm) up to 14 in x 9 in x 22 in. The maximum weight of the carry-on bag is 40 pounds (18 kg).

Costs:

The total cost for the trip will not exceed $400. I need all funds by January 6th. Please make sure that checks are written to Ave Maria Youth Group. See remaining payment chart.
